Bulah School – Cherokee County Texas

Bulah is considered a ghost town because there is no longer a town named Bulah and hasn’t had a dedicated post office is many years. It is an unincorporated community in Cherokee County. However, I would argue that there is still just as much life today as a hundred years ago. There are no longer students attending class at the old school but it is still maintained for occasional use. Service  is still held at the Adams Chapel Methodist Church, which opened in 1885. I also found a festive business named Bulah’s Best Farm but wasn’t able to visit during my trip.

Towns with the same pronunciation are very popular and may get confused with Beulah, 60 miles Southeast, or Bula on the opposite site of the state. Both are also considered ghost towns and have inactive schools.
