Bunker Hill Texas

Bunker Hill has always been a rural farming community at the top of Texas’s panhandle. Construction of some Dallam County schools  were needed to avoid transporting children 20-40 miles in several directions. When work to reopen for a new year went beyond the district’s start dates, they would still be temporarily consolidated with a school in Sedan, New Mexico.

Today, Bunker Hill is the name of a country road outside Dalhart with a couple homes and the old schoolhouse. A sign above its door shows dates of service as 1911-1947.
