Colorado City Texas

Many people have shared varying opinions of the 140-year-old Mother City of West Texas. If you sift through the good, the bad, and the ugly, there are 3 undeniable observations. Colorado City has some picturesque streets with beautiful homes, numerous fun-looking small businesses, and an overwhelming amount of abandoned locations.

One of the most notable buildings on the south side of town is the Baker Hotel. No, not THE Baker Hotel from Mineral Wells. The 5-story hotel was open from 1927-1970 and has sat vacant ever since. Residents would love to see something done with the gutted structure but the cost to renovate or demolish in an area with no other revitalization efforts doesn’t look promising.
