Brazos Point Texas

Brazos Point is an example of a ghost town in memory. Its origins began in the mid-1800’s and grew to a population of approximately 200 by the 1880’s. The settlement area is now part of Kopperl and all that remains is a cemetery and a steel bridge.

The original bridge was constructed in 1914 to cross the Brazos River and provide the first direct connection between Bosque and Johnson counties. This spawned the creation of the Meridian Highway as part of state highway 2 and later designated as several other highways until the 1930’s. You can still see the unused bridge run parallel to where county roads 1118 and 1175 meet.
