Settlements often find themselves adopting new names when becoming a town. Postal authorities shared that there was already a Dewdrop in Texas, so Denton County residents “dropped” Dew and just went with Drop in the mid-1800’s. Primary commerce consisted of providing supplies to wheat farmers. Like many places within close proximity to larger towns, population eventually relocated to where opportunities were greater.
Their original school had been upgraded due to population growth and the larger facility still stands today as a community center. This is the only evidence of what was once Drop. Newer homes are now just considered to be on the outskirts of Justin.
