Amarillo’s English Field operated from 1929-1972 with several changes of use. Major airlines moved flights from the municipal airport and continued services through 1941. The Army and Air Force moved in for training and it was renamed to Amarillo Technical Training Center in 1952. It was returned to the city in 1968 for just a few more years of operation.Â
